Alvin!!!!! If you want to watch the 20th Century Studios film, “Alvin and the Chipmunks”, this weekend, unfortunately, the live-action film from 2007 has been temporarily removed from Disney+ in the United States, but it is available to stream on HBO Max.
The classic cartoon chipmunks are back in this tuneful holiday tale about their big break. It’s the Christmas season, but down-and-out songwriter Dave Seville’s greatest gift is his discovery of three talented chipmunks who can harmonize: wily leader Alvin, super-smart Simon and adorable Theodore.
The film stars Jason Lee, David Cross, Cameron Richardson, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney, and Justin Long.
Due to a long-standing contract made with Warner Brothers before Disney purchased 20th Century Fox, titles are regularly removed from Disney+ in the United States and added to HBO Max. These titles do eventually return back to Disney+, but it’s unknown when they will be back.
Unlike other streaming services like Netflix, HBO Max or Hulu, Disney+ doesn’t inform subscribers in advance when films or shows are going to be removed. The film is still available to stream on Disney+ outside the US, as the HBO deal only impacts US subscribers.
